"It is all on
one's doorstep at the Stag Hunters, one of the oldest and best loved
hotels in North Devon. A former coaching inn, it is built on the sight
of an old abbey (part of the hotel is the original chapel) and nestles
on the banks of the River Lyn. If ever an hotel was in tune with its
surroundings it is the Stag Hunters. Each of the twelve guestrooms has an en-suite bathroom and other modern day notions of comfort, although they are beautifully furnished in traditional style. Two of the bedrooms boast a four-poster bed. The hotel's restaurant is renowned for its traditional home cooking and the owners justly take great pride in the high reputation of their cuisine and outstanding cellars. Since visiting the Stag Hunters recently, and enjoying its warm hospitality and away-from-it-all location, we have recommended it to our closest friends.
